As one character in the musical says… ‘sometimes you’ve gotta go into the closet, to figure out how to come out of it!’. “OUT” is an emotive, contemporary musical featuring an original dance/club/pop score about finding yourself, understanding the importance of living authentically and discovering the true power of coming out.
The story follows a teenager called Sam who wants to come out to his Dad, however the weight of saying two simple words leaves Sam confused as to why he is finding it all so difficult. One night in a haze of lights and smoke, Sam’s closet doors burst open to reveal a portal to the past. As Sam steps into the closet he embarks on an epic adventure throughout time and discovers a powerful history of LGBTQ+ icons and events that continue to shape society today – including the first person to publicly come out as gay, the Stonewall riots, the first pride march and the AIDS crisis.
This is a story that shows ‘the power to love is the power to change the world’.
